LK Underfloor Heating Install Demo - PE-Xa Pipe in Screed
Demonstration of LK Systems pipe-in-screed system being laid for an underfloor heating project. The pipe is installed over insulation such as Celotex or Kingspan(covering a concrete slab), clipped into clip-rail and usually secured by push pins or staples. Screed is poured over the pipework and acts as a heat sink, radiating heat into the building. Underfloor heating offers approximately 60% radiant heat and 40% convection. By comparison, radiators emits about 10% of their warmth as radiant heat and 90% by convection. This means that a radiator heats the air in the top of a room first, with warm air gradually filling the room from above the occupant's head. With underfloor heating, you get consistent heating from the entire floor area, with operating temperatures much lower than in radiator based systems. This video shows an installation in Sweden, where the internal walls are put in place after the underfloor heating pipes. In the UK underfloor heating is usually installed after the walls and roof are built.
