Building A Deck Box

A deck box is useful for storing different types of miscellaneous items ranging from sports equipment to pool side toys and pillows. They are surely a useful addition for any deck area and attractive looking designed storage space can work as an accessory also. Although they are available in many shapes, sizes and colors but it is normally easy to build such type of box. It has to be determined how much and what is planned to be stored for a clearer image of its design. A building plan is essential part of the entire building process. Wood of better quality has to be selected and quantity needed has to be determined according to the height, width and length. For the foundation or footing, concrete slab can be used by pouring cement into form and allowing it to solidify. The height of the box has to be measured with the measuring tape of course. The woods should be of same size for regularity. The wood can also be sanded for having a smooth surface. The frames have to be built by taking the measurement of the box.
Now, four vertical wall beams for the sides are needed. The frame can be formed by nailing the pieces together. Then, they can be nailed or screwed to the footings. For making the wall sections, four precisely measured pieces measure and sawed from the wood boards. They can be either nailed or screwed together. The walls are supposed to fit perfectly with each other. Partitions should also be added to the inside of the box by inserting thin wood boards.
For making the lid cover, must be slightly larger than the box. Holes have to be drilled for hinges on the lid as well as on the box. Now the hinges can be connected and the screws can be fastened. When the box has been assembled into one piece, the final step of painting or staining has to be done. Few layers of paint can be applied evenly on the box and when one layer dries, proceed to the next. Painting is important as it helps to keep the box in a good condition for a longer time.
